Lake Granbury

Fishing Report from TPWD (Oct. 13)

GOOD. Water lightly stained; 70 degrees; 0.01 feet low. Water temperatures are in the mid to upper 70's, and the fishing is good for many species. Largemouth bass catches have been good to excellent, 7 pounds, typically on spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and soft plastics on a Texas rig worked near main lake points and many in the back of sloughs and up in the river. Sand bass continues to be good on many areas of the lake on slabs, and spinners fished in 10-15 feet of water near channel ledges. Look for schooling fish on the surface. Striped bass are feeding next to these schools of sand bass, looking for an easy meal. Live shad or slabs are putting striped bass to 10 pounders in the boat, with most of the fish being caught on the lower ends from Decordova to the dam. Crappies are good to excellent on small minnows and jigs in numerous places, generally near structures like standing timber or bridge pilings, with some catches in the back of creeks. Catfish are good to excellent on cut shad on many areas of the lake. Night-time catfishing has been good.
