Fishing Report from TPWD (May 21)

GOOD. Water stained; 78 degrees; 0.09 feet below pool. Water temperatures are in the middle 70s and rising. Water clarity on the upper ends is improving and the lower ends are fairly clear. Sand bass action continues to be good to excellent on slabs and spinner baits on many areas of the lake. Fish are holding on ridges and humps in 12-20 feet of water. Striped bass are slow to fair on trolled Alabama rigs and live shad. Best reports on striped bass are coming from near Decordova Subdivision to Blue Water Shores. Largemouth bass are good on soft plastics and lipless crankbaits worked in the back of sloughs and creeks. Some largemouth bass are schooling with the sand bass. Blue catfish continue to be good on cut bait fished near channel breaks. Best action is reported from Indian Harbor to Hunter Park. Crappie reports are also good in the creeks on small minnows and jigs. Some of the crappies are moving out to structure near major creek entrances and near bridge pilings and standing timber. Report by Michael Acosta, Unfair Advantage Charters. As we enjoy a weekend of fishing we salute and honor our Nation’s heroes this Memorial Day. Anticipate increased recreational boater traffic this weekend.
