Fishing Report from TPWD (Apr. 30)

GOOD. Water stained; 70 degrees; 0.21 feet below pool. Water temperatures are in the low 70s and continue to warm. Water flows from recent rains have stained the water on the upper ends, however the lower end is relatively clear. Watch out for floating debris. Striped bass to 10 pounds are possible on live shad and trolled Alabama Rigs on the lower ends. Some good topwater action is possible early and late. Sand bass are excellent on slabs, spinnerbaits and spoons fished in 10-20 feet of water from near Blue Water Shores to Indian Harbor to the Shores in town. Largemouth bass continue to be good in the back of sloughs or near main lake points with soft plastics, jigs, spinnerbaits and lipless crankbaits. Crappie are good to excellent in the shallows on small jigs and small minnows fished under a cork. Catfish are good to excellent on cut shad fished on the upper ends in stained water. Lots of blue catfish are being caught with an occasional really large catfish to 25 pounds plus. Report by Michael Acosta, Unfair Advantage Charters. Blue and channel catfish biting excellent on small pieces of cut bait in 35-50 feet of water. Report by Jeffery Sojourner, Sojourner Fishing.
