Fishing Report from TPWD (Jan. 25)

FAIR. Water lightly stained; 55 degrees; 2.48 feet below pool. Granbury striped bass are decent when deadsticking flukes or slow trolling swimbaits and umbrella-rigs along the edges of the river channel. You can find them scattered from striper alley on the south end all the way to the north end along channel edges. This is not typical for this time of year, fish should all be north by now but a long hot summer and little to no current has them all over the place. Report provided by Kraig Sexton, Sexton's Guide Service LLC, Fishing Charter, Marine Electronics & Whitney. Fishing continues to be excellent for many species on the lake. Striped bass to 15 pounds are being caught mid-lake and above the railroad bridge. Numbers of striped bass continue to be caught on the lower ends in 40 feet of water. Largemouth bass numbers are good on crankbaits and soft plastics on the warmer days as they move up with the baitfish. Some good sand bass reports are coming in near Tin Top. Good crappie catches continue on small jigs near deeper docks and standing timber. The big catfish are good on cut bait fished on shallow flats adjacent to the creek/river channels. Report by Michael Acosta, Unfair Advantage Charters. Bass are biting jerkbaits and crankbaits around boat docks and on rocky points between 6-15 feet deep. Report by James Moore, North Texas Bass Fishing and Cmoore Striper Guide. Blue catfish bite is good during the middle of the day on cut bait 2-10 feet of water. Shad grouped up in the main channel during the day holding deep, scattered shallow at night. Report by Jeffery Sojourner, Sojourner Fishing LLC.
